ADIZEM is indicated for the management of angina pectoris, and for the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension. It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medications, such as diuretics.
Bradycardia (less than 50 bpm), second or third degree heart block, sick sinus syndrome, decompensated cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction.
ADIZEM is generally well tolerated, and may thrombocytopenia, dizziness, headache, extrapyramidal disorder, ventricular block, bradycardia, palpitations, sinoatrial block, facial flushing, hypotension, vasculitis, gastrointestinal disorder, nausea, increased hepatic enzyme, clinical hepatitis, allergic dermatitis, erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis, fatigue, oedema legs.
Dosage and Administration:
Dosage may be taken with or without food, and should be swallowed whole and not chewed.
Angina: the usual initial dose is 90 mg twice daily, or 60 mg 3 times daily. Dosage may be increased gradually to 120 mg twice daily, or 180 mg twice daily if required.
Hypertension: the usual dose is 60-120 mg twice daily, increased as required to a maximum of 360 mg daily.
