Iso-Dinitrat is used for the prophylaxis and treatment of coronary insufficiency disease (angina and myocardial infarction) and as adjunct in the management of congestive heart failure.
Iso-Dinitrat in contra-indicated in patients who have shown hypersensitivity to the drug or to other nitrates or nitrites and patients with severe hypotension, hypovolaemia, marked anemia, constructive pericarditis or raised intracranial pressure due to head trauma or cerebral hemorrhage.
The majority of side-effects are mild, temporary, and rarely lead to discontinuation of the drug. Such side-effects include headache, hypotension and related feeling of nausea, vomiting, weakness and pallor, cutaneous vasodilatation and flushing.
Dosage and Administration:
Angina pectoris: 30-120 mg daily in divided doses according to the patient's needs. Dosage increment should be gradual to avoid side-effects up to 240 mg daily in divided doses may be necessary. Heart failure: 30-160 mg daily in divided doses up to 240 mg daily may be required.
