Description

Composition:

  • Macormax 250 capsules: each capsule contains Azithromycin 250 mg
  • Macormax 200 Dry Powder for Oral Suspension: Each 5 ml of suspension after reconstitution contains Azithromycin 200 mg
  • Macormax 100 Dry Powder for Oral Suspension: Each 5 ml of suspension after reconstitution contains Azithromycin 100 mg
  • Macormax 250 film coated tablets: Each film coated tablet contains Azithromycin 250 mg
  • Macormax 500 film coated tablets: Each film coated tablet contains Azithromycin 500 mg
  • Macormax 600 film coated tablets: Each film coated tablet contains Azithromycin 600 mg

Indications:

  • Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Acute bacterial sinusitis
  • Community acquired pneumonia
  • Pharyngitis / tonsillitis
  • Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
  • Urethritis and cervicitis
  • Genital ulcer disease
  • Acute otitis media

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the drug components.
  • Concomitant use of ergot derivatives.
  • Hepatic diseases

Side Effects:

Nausea, abdominal discomfort, vomiting, flatulence, diarrhea, rash.

Dosage and Administration:

Capsules should be taken on empty stomach

Tablets can be taken with or without food

1 followed by 250 mg once daily on day 2-5

Children:

Acute otitis media: the recommended dose of Macromax for oral suspension is 30mg/kg given as single dose or 10 mg/kg as a single dose on the first day followedby 5 mg/kg/dayon day 2-5

Acute bacterial sinusitis: 10mg/kg once daily for 3 days

Community acquired pneumonia: 10mg/kg as single dose on the first day followed by 5mg/kg on day 2-5

How supplied:

  • Mcromax 250 capsules: box of 6 capsules
  • Macromax 200 and 100 Dry Powder for Oral Suspension: 15 ml or 30 ml bottle after reconstitution
  • Macromax 250 film coated tablet: box of 6 tablets
  • Macromax 500 film coated tablet: box of 3,6 tablets
  • Macromax 600 film coated tablet:2 tablets
