Description

Composition:

  • Each tablet contains: Paracetamol 500 mg or 1000 mg
  • Each 5 ml oral suspension contains: Paracetamol 120 mg or 200 mg
  • Each 5 ml syrup contains: Paracetamol 120 mg
  • Each 1 ml drops contain: Paracetamol 100 mg
  • Each suppository for infants contains: Paracetamol 125 mg
  • Each suppository for children contains: Paracetamol 250 mg
  • Each suppository for adults contains: Paracetamol 500 mg

 

Indications:

Treatment of mild to moderate pain including headache, backache, migraine, neuralgia, tooth­ache, sore throat, period pain, aches and pain.

Symptomatic relief of rheumatic pain, mascular pain and pains of cold & influenza, fever, feverish colds and post-immunisation fever.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any of the drug components.

Side Effects:

Very rare, skin rash and chronic hepatic necrosis

Dosage and Administration:

For tablets (500 mg or 1000 mg):

– Adults, the elderly and over 12 years: 1000 mg, every 4 hours to a maxi­mum of 4000 mg in 24 hours.

– Children 6 – 12 years: 250-500 mg every 4 hours to a maximum of 2000 mg in 24 hours.

For 120 mg / 5 ml:

– For the relief of fever after vaccinations at age (2, 3 and 4 months): 2.5 ml, starting at the time of vaccination.

– For Pain and other causes of fever:

Age less than 2 months: shouldn’t be given.

Age (2 – 3) months: if the baby weighs over 4 kg and was born after 37 weeks: 2.5 ml If necessary up to 2 doses, leave at least 4 hours between doses.

Age 3 months – 6 months: 2.5 ml

Age 6 – 24 months: 5 ml

Age 2 – 4 years: 7.5 ml

Age 4 – 6 years: 10 ml

Do not give more than 4 doses in any 24hour period, leave at least 4 hours between doses.

For the 200 mg / 5 ml:

Dosage interval should not be less than 6 hours. For complaints lasting more than 3 days, a doctor should be consulted

For the suppository (125 mg, 250 mg):

– Children under 3 months of age: only use on a doctor’s advice.

– Children 3 months to 1 year:

3 months (5 kg): on a doctor’s advice

1 year (10 kg): 125 mg (1 suppository)

– Children 1 to 5 years:

1 year (10 Kg): 125 mg (1 suppository)

5 years (20 Kg): 250 mg (2 suppositories of 125 mg or 1 suppository of 250 mg)

– Children 6 to 12 years:

6 years (20 Kg): 250 mg (1 suppository)

12 years (40 Kg): 500 mg (2 suppositories)

These doses may be repeated up to a maximum of 4 times in 24 hours. The dose should not be repeated more frequently than every 4 hours.

For the suppository (500 mg):

How supplied:

  • Paracetamol – Barakat Tablets: box containing 20 or 500 tablets.
  • Paracetamol – Barakat 120 mg, 200 mg Oral Suspension: Glass bottle containing 100 ml.
  • Paracetamol – Barakat Syrup: Glass bottle containing 60 ml, 100 ml.
  • Paracetamol – Barakat Drops: Glass bottle containing 15 ml, 30 ml.
  • Paracetamol – Barakat 125 mg, 250 mg, 500 mg Suppositories: box containing 10 suppositories.
